Just under a year ago I bought a new camera. It then cost £272 but I've seen the same model on sale since for £350.
Today I received a letter from Mastercare pointing out that the warranty expires on 5th February and they kindly offer to give me another four year's guarantee. Whether it gets broken or just stops working they say they'll either repair it or replace it. For this service they're asking for £79, equivalent, they say, to about 38p per week. I have until 12th February to make a decision.
I remember a Watchdog programme some time ago which advised to leave such extended warranties alone because they were poor value. However, twenty quid a year for four years seems reasonable to me.

In The Buff is a community site, which aims to promote the naturist cause.
