Since I forgot to take some readng matter with me to Holkham Beach Day last Sunday, I invested £6.99 in a copy of "The Reluctant Nudist" from the BN stall.
Have any other Buffers read this tome? I would be interested to hear you comments.
So far I've managed to reach around page 50 in spite of the fact that it is probably the most ineptly written novel I've ever read. One of the BN Team did describe it to me as the kind of book you might buy at an airport to see you through a flight. I can only be thankful I wasn't flying since it is the literary equivalent of music-to-slash-your-wrists-by.
In an odd kind of way the book's awfulness makes it somehow compelling so I have a feeling I shall plough on at intervals or in those rare moments when I have slight suicidal tendencies.
The author, the name of whom I do not wish to recall, employs a whole range of writing skills from A right up to B and has managed to create a crowd of stereotypes not one of which elicits any kind of sympathy. It's like reading a script of "The Teletubbies" but without the intellectual depth.
So, fellow ITBers, that's my recommended reading for the summer!
