Well we made it to the BN Maize Maze event at York yesterday.
There were about 100 people who attended the event, and about 80% did the maze in the nude. :-)
It was an overcast evening, and there was a brisk cool breeze. This made it essential to keep moving. With all the bad weather the corn plants were only 18"-24" high. We were told that they had been over head height at last years event! This meant that the participants were easily visible from the York ring road 'barely' 150 yds away! This bothered no-body. The maze involved answering 6 clues which entailed covering all parts of the 2 large fields that had James Bond and his DB5 cut into them. With correction of bad moves, this entailed walking over a mile in total. Luckily despite the rains the paths were in good condition, thanks to the sandy soil.
Afterwards everyone was ready for a hot drink and a big slice of homemade cake in the refreshment marquee. We chatted with 4 couples that we know from Yorkshire, and also Nigel from our local swim. :-)
These included friends from YSS with flooded caravans. They said the site is now drained, but covered in a toxic grey slime, and they are waiting for the loss adjuster before they can do anything. :-(
