Yesterday, I received an invitation to join what looked to be one of these new-fangled social networking sites, but specifically for nudists. It sounded interesting, so I signed up.
What did I find on entering the site? Forums filled with people wishing to delete their accounts (which appears to be impossible) and complaining of child pornography. I've steered clear of the image galleries after reading that, but seeing users with names like "dadofsons" gives me a good idea of what's going on. From my experience on MSN, anyone who specifically mentions children or being a dad in their user name on a naturist site is almost certainly a paedophile. It's not a hard and fast rule, but I've seen it proved right several times.
And then there are requests on there by people interested in "family naturism." Again, something which should be innocent in itself, but when people start fishing specifically for naturist contacts who have kids, you can be pretty sure they're only after one thing. I've seen this theory proved right more than once as well.
I don't think the site was set up deliberately to be like this, and there do seem to be some genuine users on there. But the moderators are nowhere to be seen and it just seems to be a free-for-all, and the ideal haunt for the sickest of the sick who gravitate towards Internet Naturism. For what it's worth (and I hope I haven't stepped out of line) I've put a link to ITB in there for any genuine naturists who want somewhere decent to chat about naturism. I've explained that there's no child porn or requests for 'family naturism' here, and that the place is properly policed by the mods, so hopefully the pervs won't bother to follow along.
I won't give the actual site's name partly for libel reasons, and partly because I don't want to give it any publicity in case anyone reading this has stumbled across ITB looking for that kind of thing and been bitterly disappointed. But if you get any of your mail contacts inviting you to a nudist social networking site, please keep your wits about you because it may well be the one I'm talking about.
