Okay, not one strictly for the travel club, but this seemed like the best place to put this.
I can't be the only one here who gets to travel a lot, and therefore stay in a lot of hotels. I thought it might be worth compiling a list of hotels that do or definitely don't have clothing optional sauna facilities. I'm not a big user of saunas, but I usually go for a swim and I get to clock whether or not there's a sauna in the changing rooms, even if I don't bother to go in.
I realise it's not really practical to ask in a lot of cases, so let's just assume that if the establishment has saunas in the changing rooms (and therefore separate ones for ladies and gents) that nudity will probably be acceptable. If you've seen other people go naked in there, then it's worth a mention.
My nominations so far:
The Holiday Inn Southampton (airport) - sauna in male changing, other users naked.
The Holiday Inn Bristol Filton (this was a while ago) - sauna in male changing. Other users naked.
The Mollington Banastre Hotel. Mollington, near Chester. Sauna in male changing (again this was a while ago.) Not entirely sure if nudity is permitted though.
Hotels that have mixed saunas only, costumes therefore almost certainly compulsory.
The Crowne Plaza, Glasgow (by the armadillo.)
The Holiday Inn East Kilbride
Loads more that I can't remember just yet. I'm sure I'll be adding to this list.
I'm sure any additions to this list (both UK and abroad) would be more than welcome.
