Hot Gossip uses a Jabber Server to connect people who want to chat, I highly recommend you visit http://www.jabber.org to find out more. In summary Jabber is an open source project where on most chat programs there is none of the commercial advertising associated with the likes of MSN and Yahoo, why not get your friends and family to sign up to a jabber account at jabber.org and then you can chat online to them, and also log in to the Buff Jabber chatroom to chat to friends on ITB too.
