Hi everybody,
Having just returned from the best part of a fortnights travelling around Wales, staying at a couple of (unfortunatly) textile camp sites, we've come up with a lovely dream for the future.
What we'd want to do is to get a few acres of secluded land, at least one being flat ground for camping on.
Build a home, maybe a straw bale house, or we've just been reading a book by a man who built himself a home partially underground on a hillside.
Have a decent amount of arable land to grow as much in the way of self sufficiency crops as possible.
Go 'back-to-basics' as far as possible, earth or compost toilets, solar heating, wind and/or water turbines for power... (Get the feeling we called at the Centre for Alternative Technology?)
For the few decent months of the summer offer C.O. camping.
The only problems we've found so far are that the areas of land available on sites like woodlandsforsale.co.uk are cheap but you can't build, and plots of land with buildings already on (or permission to build) are out of our price range.
Anyone got any idea's?
Cheers,
Ian.
