The one thing that remains predictable when taking a week off to holiday in England is that the weather will be unpredictable. The end of May seemed like a good idea at the time, but alas, it poured down nearly all week.
My first time at a landed naturist club, the first problem I had was finding it. My sat nav seemed determined to ensure that my rally driving skills were brought into question, but I got there in the end. Having planned to camp there, it was v clear that the weather was having none of it, & I ended up in a caravan for the week, courtesy of the friendly hosts.
Having headed straight for the bar on the first night, and surviving the inquisitive natives, the cameraderie was strong and the beer was flowing. Against my expectation, only 1 person was naked, the shy and retiring "Prof" on this site. There were numerous characters, and Northern hospitality was much appreciated, everyone rightly proud of the club as it started from scratch 20 years ago.
Facilities wise, toilets, showers all the usual stuff you would expect, plus a sauna and a first class bar, along with an adjoining room that was used for Kareoke whilst I was there.
Alas, due to the weather, my naturist moments were fleeting, but it was great to chat with genuine naturists and enjoy a drink or 5.
Ashdene won't be the biggest club you'll ever visit, though there were approx 50 caravans there, but certainly has a unique atmosphere and charm that will be difficult to replicate anywhere else. A most pleasant week and it will be a pleasure to go back sometime.
