Don't the years fly by quickly? Until the mid-eighties my second favourite past time was fell walking but then, frustratingly, I developed a problem with my central nervous system which affected my limbs so hiking had to become a thing of the past, as also did playing the violin (but that was a blessing for most people!) This year I have also had to give up my main hobby, drama, mainly because after a stroke three years ago my ability to learn lines has been adversely affected.
Nonetheless, I ain't beaten yet!
I was browsing ebay and came across a tent - a Quechua 2 Second 2 Man Tent. It comes packed in a disc shaped bag. You take it out of the bag, throw it in the air and it lands erected! Word has it that it only takes 15 seconds to un-erect.
This got me thinking. Although I couldn't cope with a traditional tent and all the bending and crawling it would need to put up, I could cope with a "flying frisbee" of a tent. And although I can't fell walk as I used, I can stagger slowly and enjoy the scenery and fresh air and beaches etc.
So, my resolution for this year is to buy this tent and, once the spring is here, tootle off to flatish places (like the north Norfolk coast), set up camp and explore secluded places and naturist beaches.
So if you see an ancient, naked cripple staggering around please stop and say hello and point me to where I may have pitched my tent!
Have a great 2006, ya Buffers!!
