So. It was to be my first naturist holiday in Cap d'Agde. Having arranged with another who wanted to experience a 'full naturist' holiday, and having booked way back in January, I finaly got there. There are comments on Cap elsewhere on this site, so I thought I would tell you how I found it.
We booked through Ann & David James Travel (see elsewhere on site for contact details) and decided on a budget room with all the budget trimmings - like cups! We also booked a car pick up to the site, and Ryanair travel from Luton.
Having met each other only the previous night, we set off for Luton airport at 3.30 in the morning for the 5.30 flight to Bezier. They also fly from Bristol but Luton was nearer. As there were no convenient NX coaches available, I had booked the car in the cheapest car park I could find on the net. We found it ok. They booked us in and we joined the bus full of people to the airport. We went through security 'cos we had printed off boarding cards online, and were in the airside long enough for caffeine levels to reach acceptable levels. The flight was good. Cattle class or no, it was exactly what we wanted.
We were first off the plane at Bezier and our driver was somewhat suprised to see us so quickly. He drove us straight through to the village and retreived the keys to out apartment. It was basic, but thats what we paid for. A bunk bed, a toilet, a shower, a sink,a raised kitchen with fridge, coffee machine, microwave and well stocked with crockery and cutlery. Under the kitchen was the double bed which pulled out or pushed in to form a settee (never used as such). A tv with french only channels. A dining table and stools and 4 openning doors to the balcony with chairs, loungers and table. Our view was north west over the harbour. It got the sun from around 5 onwards therefore was kept cool during the day and we could sit out at night. As I said, it was basic and clean with the little odd extra I didnt expect - like the TV.
Once you have worked out the layout of the naturist village, its easy to find things. Until then - keep a map. There are three main buildings of apartments and each has its own pool, shop and club complex. You are of course free to roam. We plumped mmost days for the Port Ambonne building, with its excellent pool, cafe and bar. In fact we spent an awful lot of time there! There are lots of shops in each building ranging from supermarkets and tabacs, bars, clubs and restaurants to tacky gift shops and full on fetish shops. (more of this later).
The beach of course is wonderful although some of the approaches were littered with dog foul. The beach did have lots of butts too but we did see the rake and sift machine more than once. The sea gently slopes and is crystal clear and suprisingly warm, very good for kids. It has 3 bars/restaurants and mobile coffee wagons. We had heard of the different beach sections and even that a lot of 'intimate relations' were out in the open. All I can say is, neither of us witnessed anything untoward although it was obvious when we crossed from the family part to the swinger part of the beach. It was equaly obvious when we left the naturist section altogether, although there was no signage. WE managed to meet up with some really interesting folk. Keith and Patrick - if your reading this... hi and it was good to meet you.
Talking of swingers. Its true, the place is alive with them. The clubs are all couples only and cater for tastes apparently. During the day, nakedness is encouraged indeed required throughout the village. Come 7 ish in the evening, everyone and I mean everyone, dons mad clothing, jewelry, odd things that I dont know the name for and parade around. The restaurants require you to dress (even if it is odd) and you are generaly stared at and made to feel uncomfortable should you be caught out after the witching hour. We managed our timetable so that we could eat naked and then head for the balcony of out apartment to watch the odd scenes below, thus avoiding having to dress. It was very annoying, but we both had a give and take attitude for it. They give the amusment and we take the p.... laughter.
BTW, the weather was great - around 28-31 degrees during the days and only one cool night around 12 degrees.
Apart from this little annoyance, we had a very very good holiday. From the beach run early mornings and breakfast from the bakery to the pool, booze, and weather. It was all great. The run back was equaly organised and smooth. From the taxi pick up to arriving at Luton airport - smooth as a babies bum!
If you are thinking of going to Cap but are aware of the reputation and chatter, ignore it. Its what you want it to be. Dont want the swinging scene - then dont go in the clubs. Dont want to wear clothes, be in your room by 7 at night. Slightly odd, but bearable.

In The Buff is a community site, which aims to promote the naturist cause. Members are a friendly community of natursts, that enjoy practising naturism either at home, on the beach, on holiday, or anywhere the fancy takes them. They may have been naturists for a week, a year, or their whole life. What brings all the naturists here together is the fun and friendship.
