Hi i used to be a regular at Eureka from about 94 up to a few years ago. One of the reasons i stopped going was that it had become rundown and its future was not clear . I have just viewed the website for it and it clearly has had a lot done , it looks stunning . It will be back on my list of places to go again !! . Had some good days (and nights ) there in my camper van. Rob.

Like Traindriver I didn't know Derek, but it's such a shame when a dedicated nudist is taken from us in his prime.

Irene & I met up with Derek once thanks to ITB, it was last August & we arranged to meet up on Brighton Beach. He had brought his motorhome to Newhaven for solar panels to be fitted.
He was a truly great guy, with a fantastic sense of humour.

We last spoke on the phone in May, and he told us that since his marriage breakup he was getting his life back together, had found a nice place to live & was thinking about travelling around Europe in his motorhome for 2 or 3 months.

He will be sadly missed by many, & we would like to offer our condolences to his Daughter, Family and Friends.

Calshot beach directions

The only naturist part of the beach is at the extreme west. Park in the first car park just as you hit the beach road (unless some free on-road parking is available on the road to and from the beach). Go to the sea, turn right and start walking. You will come to some groynes after ten or so minutes - that is it. Access to the beach ceases a little further on due to a bird sanctuary.

Calshot is small, and does suffer from yachties & motor-boaties with binoculars passing by from Cowes and the Solent clubs. It is shingle so a towel and sandals are needed. The water is quite clean.
